Default What should be the first off road modification?

I am pretty sure I got this from Discoweb:

A lot depends on who you ask this question to, and also where and with whom you wheel with. But, for sake of safety and reliability, here's the order most of us believe is the best:
• winch
• bumper
• protection (rock sliders, diff guards, rear bumper, skid plates)
• suspension lift
• tires
• lockers
Our reasoning for this order is:
Winch is something that can get you out of trouble, so regardless of the situation, as long as you know how to use the winch, and have the right recovery gears, you can get back home safe.
Then, the bumper... it's good to have a strong winch bumper that will do it's job.
Then some protective gear... Then, suspension lift for some clearance and for taller aggressive tires.
Then a locking differential, this one will get you to places you only dreamed of... and there are a lot of cool and sexy modifications you can do to your Disco that will get you stuck deeper and further, but keep this in mind: "how cool are you when you are stuck somewhere wishing you had a winch?"

When working with GEMS vehicles. Never try to locate a misfire by pulling plug leads off - pull the injector connector instead. Otherwise you can blow up the ECU.

Secondly never swap ECUs between vehicles to test them, because both vehicles and ECUs may stop working, and you'll have to have them all reset by a franchised LR dealer (ouch!).
